FERNANDO FERRO & IRMÃO RECEIVES FIRST FAIST PROJECT DEMONSTRATION

First demonstration of a project aimed at the modernization and promotion of the footwear sector, attended by about 160 people, including the Deputy Minister and Territorial Cohesion and the President of APICCAPS.

FAIST - Agile, Intelligent, Sustainable and Technological Factory aims primarily to equip and improve the footwear sector with innovative technologies, processes and sustainable materials. An initiative that seeks to increase agility in adapting to market requirements and transform the footwear and leather goods industry in Portugal into the most advanced in the international market panorama.

In this sense, last Friday, November 15, within the scope of the FAIST project, the Fernando Ferro & Irmão Group received, at its facilities, the first demonstration action of the project.
This included interventions by the Deputy Minister and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida and the President of APICCAPS (Portuguese Association of Footwear Manufacturers, Components, Articles Leather and its Substitutes), Luís Onofre. Then, Florbela Silva, coordinator of the project, presented the mobilizing agenda of FAIST and, in turn, Cristiano Figueiredo, member of the Footwear Technological Center, made an exhibition on automation in the footwear industry.

The program also included a round table with the participation of Albano Fernandes, from AMF; Armindo Peixoto, from ARMIPEX; Fernando Ferro, CEO of Grupo Fernando Ferro & Brother DCSI PRO and TECHLASTS; and João Bernardo, from MIND. The session concluded with the words of Reinaldo Teixeira, President of the Technological Center of Footwear of Portugal.

During the session, Fernando Ferro stated that "We develop everything from start to finish and our production is quite technical. We work for various industries, including footwear. For this sector we manufacture molds for components, but also the machines that create them". The group CEO also states that it has the capacity to produce molds and shapes for various types of footwear, including sports and safety. "Another important growth path is safety or work shoes: they are also very technical shoes and we want them to be not only functional, but also comfortable and with good design".
